Retail Sales and Client Service Assistant

Dempsey & Carroll, fine engravers since 1878, is the premier brand of luxury stationery and writing papers.

Are you a highly motivated, bright, self-starter excited to work and learn about luxury sales and client service?  Can you work well under pressure, multi-task, problem solve, and consistently meet deadlines? You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our clients and supporting the retail sales team to accommodate all client requests.   You will immediately take on client responsibility and will grow into a retail sales associate.

In addition, you will work on a range of administrative projects.  Tasks include creating basic spreadsheets, filing, making copies, running errands, greeting customers in the store, and other staff support duties. You must be very organized and eager to help with the day-to-day operations of the office.

You must love working with people, details and the art of a written note!

You must be willing to work on Saturdays.

What you need:

  • 0 to 3 years interest or experience in sales, customer service or luxury goods
  • Self-starter – ability to work independently and continually prioritize activities
  • Excellent organizational interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal
  • Detail oriented and good with numbers.  Comfortable with excel.
  • Professional phone manner and ease in dealing with people
  • Outgoing, positive, dynamic personality
  • A love of stationery and luxury goods is a must!
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 

Compensation:

  • Base salary based on experience

Production Coordinator/Operations Assistant

Are you a highly motivated, bright, self-starter not sure of exactly what direction you want to grow your career?  Would you love an opportunity to support many departments to get exposure to a growing company that promotes from within?  You will immediately jump in to support departments such as Retail Sales, Operations, and Production and work on a wide range of projects.

If you are a problem-solver with very careful attention to detail, eager to help with any and every task, able to successfully multi-task, work well under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines we are interested in meeting with you.

You must also be willing to work Saturdays as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Support all departments as required including but not limited to:

  • Retail Sales
    • Answering the phone
    • Assisting Associates with pulling samples, quote creation, and order preparation
    • Filing and locating customer paper files and plates in the archives
    • Store shifts including Saturday rotations
    • Inventory maintenance
  • Operations
    • Daily Facility Walk through
    • Support building management tasks – including IT, alarm, contractors and tenant requests
  • Production
    • Quality control circulation
    • Assist with open order reports
    • Preparing shipments, messengers, and hand deliveries 
  • Other admin support as necessary

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years experience in a support role
  • BA or BS degree
  • Self-starter – ability to work independently and to prioritize projects
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Detail oriented and good with numbers
  • Outgoing, positive, dynamic personality
  • Can do attitude, patient, persistent, professional, and efficient
  • A love of stationery and luxury goods is a plus!
